Ashamed to admit: Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie.

I don't know why I had it, and I never watched it before.

I had to watch it a second time to try and comprehend the fucking thing. My wife refused the second viewing.

I laughed three times. Maybe four. And I still don't know if I liked it.

I think "Tolerated" is the best word.

There was an interview with Tim Heidecker where he was complaining about how so much classic comedy and stand up is rooted in right wing influence. He really believes that's part of the reason why is weird brand of anti-humor isn't more successful. Trump broke his brain.

Trump broke a lot of comedians brains. Especially Colbert.

What the fuck happened to him? He was great lampooning O'Reilly, but the moment he had to be himself when he got the late night gig, he was worse than Chevy Chase. Tom Snyder had more charisma, even.

I love how it's so conveniently forgotten now that CBS was going to fire him before Trump won. His ratings were terrible and kept getting worse; somehow he was blander than both Kimmel and Fallon, and his contract had none of the protections built in that Letterman had (which was exactly why they chose Colbert in the first place, they finally had someone they could control). Then he hosts that election special, and you slowly watch his heart rip in half as his girl Clinton loses.

Stupidly enough, that's what lit a weird, leftist fire under his ass that saw him go after Don and attract an audience with a similar feeling. That raised his ratings just enough to save his job, and he's coasted on that ever since.

eww

Bill Oreilly being bill Oreilly is funnier than anything Colbert ever did. Why does everyone act like he used to be some great satirist? His show was a one-note right wing satire. He has no comedy skills.

He's got an ugly ear though.

I won't take away what he did with Colbert Report. I saw it years after, yes, but his talking points lampooning that kind of talking head were pretty good, in my opinion. There's a lot of conservatism where I live, so it landed with me, one note or not.

As for no comedy skills? Strangers with Candy says otherwise, but when he has to be himself, I think you're right. He's an acting comedian, not a genuine comedian - give him decent material and he can make it work. Throw him to the wolves and he's slaughtered. And his late night writing staff does him no favours; they're like rejects of the Jay Leno era.

All this talk does is make me miss Craig Ferguson even more.

I watched this on Starz last night thinking it would be a goofy comedy. Shit was terrible. Not even really a comedy. Richard Jenkins plays some retarded white dude who is about to retire from working at a fast food joint his whole life and has to train this nig who is out on probation for selling drugs. The black kid spends the whole movie bitching about socialism and politics and of course they make it so he's some sort of genius writer who is smart and the white guy is a dumb retard. They even have a subplot about how when Richard Jenkins was in high school a bunch of white kids lynched a black student to hint he's racist. He ends up framing the black kid stole money to get him fired at the end, but he ends up leaving his job and having nothing else in life while the black kid goes on to write for a newspaper. One of the worst fucking movies I've ever seen.

Fuck I forgot about this dogshit movie.

Last movie I watched was All Quiet on the Western Front just a few days ago. I think it’s the third or fourth watch. PFG movie.
I actually had to look up if tanks like that ever existed. That is the most terrifying scene in a war movie ever. Those things were real too. In a time when there were almost no cars. It's an absolute horror.

Edit 1: world war 1 rarely gets the credit it deserves. It's like Terminator 1. You had to start somewhere.

I watched it because I’d finally read the book. I wasn’t disappointed, the book was PFG too. The tank scene was only slightly altered but yeah. That shit was insane.

If you wanna read a really good book about World War 1 check out the Good Soldier Svejk. It may be the funniest thing I've ever read. It's just about a deeply fucked up and sarcastic man "fighting" for Czechoslovakia.

I’ll put it on my list!

Is there a Good Soldier Cumia out there?
