Kid Rock blows. He always has. He latched onto the dirt rock conservative crowd at the right time and leveraged that into a little income boosted by fans aging into their 40s. Pit Bull did the same shit, becoming a favorite of aunts and moms everywhere.
Kid Rock stinks, and I don't like him.

Detroit also gave us Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Bill Haley, Jack White, and Motown / R&B legends like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson just to name a few. You could argue Detroit might be the one of the most important music cities. KISS was a New York band but had the craziest following in Detroit which is still considered a city that if you can do well there you’re in. Doesn’t get the credit it deserves, especially since the music that’s come out of there is pretty deserve - not just one style or genre (R&B, Rock and Roll, Hard Rock, Punk, Rap, etc)One of my big gripes about the music industry is that all the people who bankroll it are in New York and L.A., so all they write about is how great NY and LA are. Detroit really doesn't get enough credit. Sure, a lot of what comes out of Detroit is cringe, but even when it's cringey it's usually in a uniquely American way (Kid Rock, Eminem, Insane Clown Posse)
He's just playing to his crowd. He's still selling the tour shirt for $45 cuz he gets the lion's share of the merch cut. Sure he cuts a deal with the promoter to sell $20 lawn seats, but that's all out of the promoter's pocket, not his. Same with the beer concessions.I don’t really mind him, not a fan of his music but I remember he did things for his concerts to get around the Ticketmaster bullshit like having lawn seats be 20 bucks even - no added fees etc. and even serving cheaper beer on his shows since we all know concerts just rip you off when it comes to that. A domestic 24oz beer is around 22-25 bucks at a concert - I know it’s two beers but that is ridiculous.
The thing about Kid Rock is he refuses to sell tickets via ticket master and sells tickets for like 20 bucks tops, he knows his fans just want a cheap fun night. For that alone I respect him. I'm also all in wit da bawitdaba.

Basically Kid Rock comes around and gets in everyone's pocket so his hick fucking fans can pile in, get trashed and blow money at his merch stand and earn him more money.
Years ago I bartended at a big concert venue and worked one of the Kid Rock 20 buck ticket shows with the cheap beer. Of course the cheap one was Natty Ice in the regular 12 oz can and still sold the 24 Oz ones. I remember it because at least 3 fist fights broke out in the main indoor concession are. That crowd (same with country) just loves to get as fucked up as possible. Double fisting 24 Oz beers and chasing it with fireball. He's just playing to his crowd. And pretty much every big artist charges that for shirts, I’ve seen the hoodies be 65/75 bucks. I used to just buy the tour poster and frame it with the ticket but now they don’t even do paper tickets anymore.if the shirts are gonna be $45 no matter what, it's definitely better to have cheaper tickets.

I still get a kick out of this.
And it was a good album from what I remember: Devil Without a Cause.
I got the tour shirts when I was a teenager but stopped when I became an adult because I realized “when the fuck am I gonna wear this?”Yeah I've got tons of stubs and am stoked any time I go to a show with real ones still since it's so rare.

Forgive me brother. Why post the studio version after I already posted the superior Woodstock 99 version?
