Watching The Host (2006). What the fuck do South Koreans have against Americans?

Pretty much the only Asian movies I can watch more than once are The Killer, Once A Thief and Hard Boiled.

Not to say there isn't other good ones out there - I love the original Gojira, it's very smart for a monster film, Bruce Lee's movies are fun, and if it counts, Crouching Tiger is beautiful, but sometimes it's too fucking weird for me. They make movies for their own audience, few take Europe and America into account.

Like Oldboy. I know someone here will defend that movie, but just the synopsis of it turns me off.

I think the answer to every Asian film adapting to a white audience is including Raymond Burr.

I used to be really into Korean movies, watched like 200 of them circa 2015-2017.
There was a romantic comedy where a student finds out she is betrothed to her new teacher so they start a relationship that they have to hide from the school and the heartwarming moment at the end is when they profess their love to each other in front of everybody (who all support it).

They did have some really great comedies that were so off-beat that I've never seen anyone mention online.

Just looked up my Letterboxd, it was 181 films, not 200.

Korean films and movies have surged in popularity since then which I feel is a bit odd since the quality is not what it once was.
I liked The Wailing and I Saw the Devil. That’s about all I have to contribute here.
