Holy shit what an awful movie. Might be one of the worst I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen some stinkers. It’s boring, nothing is explained, and when it ends you get upset because you wasted your time. I guess it’s what they think will happen if Trump wins re-election or something but it fawkin STINKS!

If it ended with Dunst's character noticing the kid was about to be killed, do nothing, and then take her camera, I would have liked it a lot more.

For me, the point was not to explain it and deliberately make it vague (ultra-Conservative Texas and ultra-Liberal California teaming up) because it wasn't about trying to preach to the left or right "your side is the good guys and the bad guys on the other side caused this". The historians and pundits can debate what happened and who caused it, but it's about four journalists trying not to get killed during wartime. Similarly (I'd guess) to how soldiers in Iraq & Afghanistan were concerned with their own day-to-day and staying alive, instead of constant "let's all talk about 9/11 and remember why we're fighting" discussions. The lack of any exposition, just hints was a risk that worked for me.

The plot itself is rather basic, but it's tense scene after tense scene with solid cinematography and good performances from it's leads.

I mean her whole character arc was going through some motherly protective thing because she was too busy photographing burning Africans to have her own family.

However Jesse Plemons should have totally shot Pablo Escobar so that the kid was the only one who survives.

Why did you cause this?

Eh, Texas and California have more in common than not. They're the two largest states by far (each have 3 of the 10 largest US cities) and control a lot of the oil & gas industry and international trade. Big Business controls the Texas GOP and California Democrats and would have an interest in working together.

No, I have not seen the shit movie.

The whole thing made zero sense - kid gets hit in the face hard but no marks then the other guy is some drunk that decided it was a good idea to bring this kid with them because that’s what journalists do or some shit. The big fat guy who had his pants up to his nipples also made no sense. It sucked!

He was trying to fuck her. There's one throwaway line of dialogue from one of the Asians where they mention after Dunst's character went to her hotel room he spent the night trying to pick her up at the bar, and then the next morning when Dunst tries to protest he goes "but she's 23!"

I didn’t watch the movie but the end frightened me. Basically got the gist of the whole thing in that 2 minute clip. I get in the movie the President is supposed to be a dictator, but theres something just so jarring about watching an execution occur in the Oval Office. Just something I don’t want to ever seen happen let alone think about lol.

I like that they bring the big fat guy who I don’t think even had a camera. He was the “wise old man” that doesn’t do shit and dies.

I’ve only ever seen this scene and I don’t think it could have dragged on any longer or slower

Someone else said it in the OTHER thread about this movie but I thought this scene would be him trying to figure out “What American are you” by seeing who had loyalty to what side. Instead he was just literally asking if they were American or not

maybe now you understand how the globalist agenda feels to those who don't believe politics can save things & doesn't have your best interests at-play.

I'll still dance & have fun

The whole film is violent from start to finish but the characters don't intervene or try to change anything or save anyone. Just snap the photo and let the rest of the world discuss it.

It probably helped that the guy who played Escobar on Narcos was the male lead, but it reminded me of the picture of all the DEA agents celebrating around Escobar's corpse. Yeah Escobar was a ruthless drug lord but it still feels weird seeing everyone all smiles around his lifeless body like they just won the little league championship.

Lol yeah, they could at least have made him their boss or a co-worker so they'd have a reason to bring him along apart from "he wants to bum a ride". Kind of has that Wise Magical Negro vibe too.
