It kind of blew. Ridley Scott is a great director. The violent spectacles and the representation of Rome ruled. Everything else was crap. The only remotely interesting character was that hateable creepy faggot emperor. His over-the-top neediness cracked me up at times. Some people act like this silly movie was in a league with Apocalypse Now (1979).

There is a sequel coming out with a bunch of fag actors that will finally put this movie out of its misery as being a 'great' film.

I never watched the sequel, but it looked worse than I was even imagining when you posted this. I haven’t seen the original in years and am fine with remembering it as a decent film.
