"The Pushover" is a good underrated film noir starring Fred McMurray
"Up the Academy" is a fun early 80s comedy - Ralph Macchio's performance sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl
"Clean and Sober" with Michael Keaton is criminally underrated imho - the Ike Turner joke gets my ribs every time
"The Tall T" - great western based on an Elmore Leonard story.
"Ride in the Whirlwind" and "The Shooting" - two Jack Nicholson westerns which may not be underrated depending on which circles one travels in, but still good
"The End of the Tour" - Jason Segal plays David Foster Wallace and it's better than if sounds. I remain convinced that the reason he did that awful sex tape movie with Cameron Diaz is because he got to make this guaranteed money-loser as part of the deal.
"Glory Daze" - comedy with Ben Affleck as a drunken art school student. Cameo by Matt Damon playing a retard
"Station Agent" - not really sure if this is underrated but it's about a surly midget who rolls his own cigarettes.

I saw you raving about this movie when I was lurking the old forum. I never knew it existed, but it was a great watch. Hundred times better than Red Dragon, and the soundtrack was great too.

Check out Intolerance (1916). It dips and weaves through 2000 years of history with the main focus being how much he hates the cunt proto-Womens Rights Suffragettes of the early 1900s and how they will ruin everything if they get their way

There's an alternate ending to it too, where he visits the next potential victim family that was next on the list.
People either love or hate Petersen in this, but I think it he did really well when the story portrays him as a borderline psychopathic killer himself and this scene encapsulates that. Like he's glad he saved them and wants to connect the video tape with the flesh, but he also has that side of him that understands why Dolarhyde wanted to off them.
Another great scene of course is when he visits Lecter, and the camera portrays them both behind bars. Petersen has even said in an interview that was intentional by Mann. But Lecter is actually the "free" one, while Graham has to keep the part of himself that makes him a good profiler in a cage.

I thought Peterson was great in it, and Cox as Lecter was well casted too. Noonan as the killer, while a great performance, threw me just a little because I've always associated him as the villian from The Last Action Hero.
All around I think this movie had a lot more depth and grit than any sequel/prequel to Silence of The Lambs.

He played the Ripper, little, baby, infant, chowlld. Noonan plays a weirdo so well you'd think he would of been more prominent in those type of roles as I only know him in these two, Robocop 2 and Heat.
SOTL is like a graphic novel about a serial killer and unrealistic, but that doesn't make it bad. Harris writes Lecter in SOTL like he's Dracula and his eyes reflect red in the light.
Hopkins is the one you meet in a nightmare, but Cox is who you meet in reality.

Heh! I forgot Noonan was the enhanced robot in Robocop 2 that they fed cannisters of Nuke to. The testing scene in that movie always busted my young ribs

Have you seen Thief? I not only think its Manns best work but James Caans as well. Such a great fucking movie. Manhunter is a great choice too.
