Guitar prices are out of control now, like everything else. The days of a $600 Mexican Fender are long gone. Squier is going to fill that position I think, speaking of chinese made guitars. Squiers are legitimately quality instruments these days, and Fender seems to be using the brand to try interesting, experimental new models while they just pump out the same old strats and telesOne thing I've noticed is that a lot of the cheaper acoustic guitars just aren't set up properly at the factory - if you put a minimum of time and effort into adjusting the action and swapping out the saddle bridge for something that's not 1/8 inch higher than it needs to be they're pretty comparable to a mid-range. I get the impression that they just spend an extra hour on the mid-range guitars and hike the price by a few hundred.
I only need my house guitar and my field guitar so I haven't been keeping up with prices too much.Guitar prices are out of control now, like everything else. It ain't pretty. I recently bought one of those Fender Lead II reissues before they go out of production for good and before the prices crack a grand for MIM (not even close to worth it)I only need my house guitar and my field guitar so I haven't been keeping up with prices too much.
I got one of the cheapest squires they had ($199) just to see if I was interested in playing and so far 3 people that have played it have said they are surprised at the quality of it. I'll probably upgrade this year to a Squire jazzmaster since I'm really committed now, the J Mascis one looks PFG.Guitar prices are out of control now, like everything else.
