It may not be popular to say here, but out of all the capeshit, the Batman ones tend to be the most watchable.
Adam West goes without saying. It's bloody Adam West, I'd watch him read the phone book.
Keatons first one is excellent. Edited like shit, but he carries that film. Nicholson adds the right kind of chaos that makes it amusing. I still hold that Burton wasn't the right choice, it's Sam Hamm's script that keeps it together, but it's balanced. Returns isn't though - it's all Burton's nonsense with Daniel Waters' shit script, too much of the villains and Keaton is far too secondary. But when he's on screen, I enjoy the film.
Schumachers are a strange lot: Forever was originally more serious than what it ended up being, but it's a good mix of silly and sincere. Kilmer gets too much shit, even if he was a cunt off camera. Carrey is a bellend and Jones was clearly a Pillock, but he will always get a pass for his "I cannot sanction your buffoonery" right in Carrey's face in real life. The last one... Watch it drunk and as a comedy.
Nolan's are a bit too self serving, especially the last one. Begins is two great acts and a third that takes you out of it. Dark Knight is a very good crime film that exhausts you mentally by the end. And Rises just, really, should've been worked on another year, because none of that movie stands out.
But then we get to The Batman, and here is where I'll probably lose you all. I loved it. Not perfect, bit long, but it worked. Pattinson surprised me, he was great. Every actor did a serviceable to excellent job. It was a good story and shot very well. For a first try, I was impressed, and look forward to more.
Call me a fag for all that, though.
