I got a family friend who is a Z-List actor, shows up to conventions as that guy who was in that thing and autographs pictures. It's all a business. You rent the table, and hopefully sign enough pictures to make it worth your while slugging your ass out to New Jersey for the day. Patrick seriously spends all this money on airfare, hotels, travel expenses, etc. just so he can feel like Mama Raven's important boy.

It's seriously like a comic taking a vacation just so they could do 5 minutes at the Jacksonville Chuckle Hut open mic night, then lying that they got booked for the whole weekend, two shows on Saturday.

Those conventions are hilarious, especially when you see the “stars” renting tables were in like 1 show or had a small role in a movie 30-40 years ago. I once went to one that wasn’t advertised well and had only like 30 people show up and I got to see Gary Busey throwing a fit over the poor turn out.

He writes off most of it as a "business expense" so he can get drunk at a hotel with like minded nerds. He never makes any money doing this. He would rather take the loss and pay to pretend he is famous.
