It's easier said than done but there's no point in even trying to have an adult discussion with people like that and definitely no point in getting annoyed about it. Like I said though, it's easier said than done and I've had similarly fruitless back and forths with actual friends about topics like covid and Brexit etc. They usually have emotion-based arguments and parrot a lot of what the media tells them to think. When you ask a couple of detailed questions they quickly become flustered and either resort to ad hominems or just shut the conversation down. It's like talking to a child sometimes.
