You have to have a certain kind of voice to do Cash proper, like a good voice. A nice voice.

How does he have no charisma at all? There's no real intro or banter, just straight into the music. Cash could control a crowd from his grave better than this. Joe has the same meek "Hello" he did when he was trying to prove he was crew in order to get lunch in the last video he posted.

I guess you'd have to imagine the old people on board are shitty to their family and neighbors so this is the entertainment that they deserve in order for this to make any sense.

He has to drink alone in his cabin before he faces the bored pensioners lol.

He's seen the thinly veiled looks of contempt from the stony-faced men. Stolid Englishmen who spent 35 years on the police force or fitting boilers. They look at him and see a loser, a male their age who, instead of enjoying the fruits of his labours in his golden years like them, is forced to play covers while they wait for their steaks. It makes them uncomfortable. Joe has seen it on their faces more than once. The women look at him with a mixture of pity and triumph; pity for him, but elated relief that they ended up with men like their husbands, and not a man like Joe.

So now he has to throw a few back to dull the awareness of his situation. A couple of belts and he can drift off to fantasy land, where he's the star attraction and the highlight of their evenings.

The video

"Hullo I'm solo Joe" what a stage presence

The album Live From Folsom Prison begins with "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash" and goes straight into Folsom Prison Blues and then he intro'd every show like that until he died.

I don't think that's his cabin, I think it's a "dressing room", that's why he looks so satisfied with himself.

You're exactly right, but there seems to be a bit more there with Cash, and I understand that he's the real deal and people cheered for him and all, but there's just more confidence there. It probably really is just his deep, warbling voice that makes the difference.

I counted as many people I could make out in the 480p video quality. About 25 there are, which seems high compared to the other videos he's posted. Definitely worth locking yourself in a floating prison for months to play to that many people.

Not a benefit afforded to people playing their own music 😎🎸
And keep in mind he did this specific "show" for free, for the sole purpose of feeding his ego. He couldn't stand just being background fodder, he needed demonstrable proof that people went out of their way to see him, the headliner, "Slow" JoeH Cumia.
