To add - I’m not any sort of expert but I imagine that in the cases where it’s hard to get the footage is because the cops were assholes or did something wrong and want to delay its release as long as possible.

In case like this where the cops were seemingly totally cool and it was the SUBJECT being a Fool, they might be all too happy to accommodate our requests.

exactly. my documentary is about the level of abuse cops face even when on benign calls, & this footage provides a perfect example of police using discretionary restraint when faced with an obvious maniac.
