Venue, cake, food, photographer, and maybe a band. Where does all that money actually go?
Flowers, drinks, posters, banners, decorations, renting a limo or two (or ten), dresses and tuxes, guest book, gifts. And these wedding venues and services overcharge like crazy. It's like paying NFL stadium prices for everything. And these wedding venues are often booked months and sometimes years in advance.

Imagine being a woman and complaining about your financial situation when you and your husband had a six figure wedding. Or being a man and blowing that much money even if you are a millionaire on one single party.
