I said most not all. And yes AP was the last stud along with Henry. Barkley has a chance being on one of the best olines in the league.
I think a primary difference is AP ran ANGRY. Like a Herschel Walker, Earl Campbell type. Very few if any backs these days run AT contact other than Henry. Most backs now play in a zone-blocking scheme since high school nevermind college, and they're taught to tippy-toe up to the line and wait for a hole to open. AP would rip the ball out of the QBs hands and just plow through the line like someone in the defensive secondary owed him money. Henry was similar until he got to the pros. They just don't make/teach backs to run that way anymore.
Barkley runs away from contact, which honestly makes more sense for your health and for gaining yards. But AP was thinking long term - if I run these niggers over enough times, they'll get soft by the 4th quarter and then we'll eat them alive.
I like the old school backs. Run mad. Run like you're on defense. If their linebackers are bigger than you, run right at them. Pull their card. See how much they actually like playing football. Dude AP was a bad man. Bad enough to beat his wife and kids, but OJ killed his wife and still ran like a sissy.
