WWAW playing COD because it's the only game your three best friends of twenty-five years still play and it's also the only way we'd ever speak to each other because we're not faggots who'd call up their friends to catch up by phone like women?

I think that's a huge percentage of the fanbase. I stopped playing cod a few years ago and tried to get my old friends of decades to switch to pubg. Only one of them made the switch and the others have been radio silent. Oh well.

I didn't get it either. I don't understand how critics I respect could praise it so highly, unless they were all riding the hype train. A generic, low effort Tumblr explosion in Game Maker Studio, with a tissue thin veneer of originality provided by lol-random dialogue and wacky characters.

Someone further up mentioned Earthbound, which is funny because I think Undertale started as an Earthbound fan game. In any case, they have the same kind of fans: insufferable obsessives who think the game is perfect despite its many obvious shortcomings.

Mother 3 is better than EB.
The rhythm attack mechanic is pretty cool. I like it.
EDIT: YIIK doesn't have fans but it's king shit of taking the wrong lessons from Earthbound. (and Persona)

I just remembered that I enjoyed Stardew Valley after a friend recommended it. It's a great time-passer and easy to play drunk or stoned.
