I’m sure they were thrilled he made the decision so easy for them. Bonus points for (probably) voiding his own talent contract and (probably) forfeiting some or all of whatever they owed him.
Does he take stock of his decisions? Try to rebuild his reputation? Turn over a new leaf? Of course not, he blames his business partner (who negotiated his contracts for him) and SXM management and then descends further into racism and alcohol abuse as he hemorrhages cash on a failing network.
But sure, Anthony - Opie was the real problem there.
See, but this is what O&A was all about -- BUT we thought it was funny because they were doing it as a business. Auntie is just doing it to himself and Opie now by playing the divide and conquer against himself, his own show, and Opie, needlessly.
Opie, christlike as he is, even forgave Auntie after he did the petty bitchy whiny pathetic Greggshells EXPOSE' video like a scorned ex-wife.
I also will never understand how Anthony didn't take the opportunity as those other grifters did during Trump's presidency. He could've easily became on of the bigger alternative political shows out there but he'd rather do a show with a hangover saying uninformed, racist shit while getting drunk again than put actual effort into his show.
This is a hilarious point about Auntie's character as well, and his part in O&A... He needed Opie to be the guidance, to have an idea... as dumb an idea as it may be, he has an idea. And he pushed it with full confidence, and Auntie's reluctant deadpanning would make the bit. But you can't reluctant-deadpan yourself, sitting at a table, with your dopey little soy sauce hair, and your beady little eyes, and your creepy pocked-up cheeks.
Out of all the grifters and talking heads that emerged then, not one of them had the headstart he did. On paper he was a fucking millionaire with an already built podcasting studio, with decades of experience in broadcasting, an established name and even the firing could've been leveraged nto giving him alt-right street cred. He did absolutely nothing with any of these advantages and ended up waaay at the bottom of the pile, outpaced by newbies just starting out left and right, when he could've been their fawkin ringleader
In many ways O&A at the end of its lifespan was a precursor to MAGA and Trump himself getting elected. I still contend that if O&A didn't break up, Opie would have been the very first on the Trump bandwagon because he was just lobbing missiles at bitches at that time. The Destroyer would have been all in, Auntie probably would have been saying its funny but he's a clown who will never win... Norton would have blown whomever and wherever the wind blows. But eventually the entire show would have been full on Trump, and there would have been ONE show on a corporate platform admitting they want him because he's their retard.
But since they were all divided in 2016, none of them had confidence to express their true feelings. They are all 3 living a lie, with Opie being closest to the most genuine of course.
