They're supposed to be relatively rare in the West. In the dumb books I definitely didn't read, all the darkies are from the far east where most folks have never been. They're slightly less mythical than the lizard men who people talk about being from out that way, too. There was one guy, a big Michael Clark Duncan type guard who everyone is in awe of, like when Chinese people see a nigger. The darkest people most folks see are akin to our North Africans.

Fantasy stories that are as fleshed out as Game of Thrones and The Wheel of a Time address the fact that people don't travel and communities tend to be racially homogeneous. It's part of the world building that makes it feel grounded.

I can't wait to the cattle cars start getting loaded up again and we can put all of this behind us. The faggotry of the modern age is beyond frustrating.
