Reddit trying to justify the HOTD trans character from last night is hilarious

For context, there is a male character that was cast as a tranny woman, but they refer to it as a He in the show. I myself was confused to the point I thought they were referring to someone else each time the character was mentioned and had to Google the casting list.

Apparently I wasn't the only one baffled by this. Reddit has no answers either.

I thought it was meant to be a thing that the person in command was a woman and tough and would fight men that was the thing and not a tranny. I just thought the actress was one of those posh horsey type women tbh. Googled to see what hilarious crap show they have done like Doctors or the like before getting a big gig to find out it's a former male YouTuber

I don't think the character was meant to be a tranny but I may have missed the "he" line

I actually have followed the show to see how it compares to game of thrones. Honestly I think it fuckin blows and is confusing as shit. Them advancing like 15 years in a couple episodes and replacing the cute aussie girl pissed me off. Probably just going to drop it at this point

I haven't read the books because high fantasy bores my to death so I had to read up on this myself. The character in the show is apparently a combination of two different characters from the books, both are men.

They cast a tranny who was referring to the character as a she in interviews but it is referenced as he in-show.
It seems they had no reason story-wise to cast a transexual and now everyone - both viewers and show staff alike - are confused.

Watching Reddit arguing over obscure GRRM lore to somehow make this make sense is great.
