Do you have to tell ridiculous lies to be pathological? I mean, "i bench 250 and am a trained fighter with an arsenal of weapons" etc. is a ridiculous lie but not every mentally ill shithead has to claim to be special forces.
A pathological liar is "someone who lies compulsively and without any clear benefit."

DeWitte telling some rando about how he jumped into Fallujah is pathological; it doesn't get him anything. Pat lying about his Dad being a master horse licker so that people will believe Pat's opinion on police horses isn't - he's doing it to accomplish a goal.

Likewise, Pat claiming to be a marathon runner with a stable of mustangs in his writer's bio so that he looks more interesting and successful when people are browsing for his books isn't pathological. Ditto him silencing critics by comparing half-marathon PBs - as if your opinion only counts if you run that particular event - isn't pathological, either.

If you say so.
