Imagine if the FBI actually took a look at his case - say, the "vandalism" video.

It's a guy wearing Pat's clothes, with Pat's face, body, hair, height and gait; coming from Pat's house (rather than the alley), that's not bothered by Pat's security light and that anticipates the step in Pat's backyard. Worse, he's carrying a flashlight (implying that his eyes haven't adjusted to the darkness after recently being inside). Those last three - plus the fact that the damage was easily and cheaply fixed using common household items - are gonna annoy the FBI's Behavioral Sciences Unit to no end; and I could see it being used to train future agents in what a fake crime looks like.

The judge would ask Rick why is he deleting his side of the texts and why did he lie under oath. FFBL would then OD and the judge would deny the RO on him because Rick also threatened him. Rick is 100% his own worst enemy. Also, he couldn’t make it far enough to hurt Rick if he lived in the other half of the hovel.
