His solo career really overshadows his great drumming talent. I would say most younger people (under 30) who even know him only know him as a singer. He said in Genesis (when Peter sang) he preferred drums so he just smoke a joint and play in the background. Jesus He Knows Me (I know, it’s Genesis) is a great song and video.
