So we have to go there...
I'll say this up front: I love the Stones. One of my favorite bands ever. And I respect Mick's talent (though I've always preferred Keith).
But as a human being? MOSTLY a piece of shit.
I know plenty of nice, even great things he's done outside the industry. Mostly as an older man. And I know they aren't lies, one of them was even a personal testimony from the American fan himself. The old cunt does have a heart, at least now.
But there is no defending what the boys used to do back in the day. 80's, 70's, 60's and earlier - it was fucked. I was in my late teens in the late 80's, so before anyone needs to ask: no, I have never and will never engage with anyone underage, i.e. "The Cumia Quota".
Do I have an answer for why they did it? Not really a good one, but just look at Chuck Berry, Ted Nugent, even Bill Wyman! There seemed to be this desire to break the rules for the sake of it, even common decency. I wasn't raised like that, though.
I've done my stupid shit, sure, but some lines you never cross. That's absolutely one of them, hence why I can respect some of my peers talents, but not so much the person they are.
