The markets literally only shat the bed hours after the terrible mini budget by the Truss government was announced but yeah COVID init 🤷‍♂️

Lol you are entirely the reason your country is fucked. Your interest payments are now higher than you spend on healthcare. Yes, borrowing 500 billion GBP and printing trillions more for the common cold is the reason nobody trusts you with money anymore.

I don’t have a dog in the fight but my family in Britain liked Corbyn, an old school trade unionist who fought for workers and nationalising public utilities so they existed to provide coverage and not make profit for a small group of selected shareholders with no risk.
That was kinda his problem though, he is an old school Socialist. A bunch of Antifa types steamrolled the party elections to hoist him into power but then they grew frustrated that he had a mind of his own. He refused to give a clear yes or no answer on Brexit because, not that secretly, he was in favour of it. His ilk know the EU is a undemocratic lobbying machine and they dislike it, as opposed to the newer generations of leftists who've been indoctrinated to act as shock troopers for supranational corporate interests. He was also too much of a principled sperg to sugarcoat his more wacky ideas, so that was another kneecapping during a single-issue election.

Most the issues are down to Brexit not COVID.
The exact same issues exist in the rest of Europe and most of the Western world, it's definitely Covid and the ensuing fallout that's the main culprit here.

Faggots have been predicting the Brexit-inflicted doom of Bongistan on a weekly basis for 6 fucking years now. It always felt forced as fuck (almost as if there's some monolithic entity with every interest to depict a country leaving the EU as an unmitigated disaster) but things have been so FUBAR over the last years that not even the most dedicated shills can pretend Britain is the sole outlier.

So in that case it's neither COVID or Brexit, stupid. It's your late clown-in-chief deciding to commit financial harakiri with a dumbass plan.

I mean outside of global events yeah that's what the past month was about. Brexit and inflation plus the war in Ukraine and Russia sanctions are all added into various things happening before the past month.

Brexit is bad for Britain because Britains finances and economy almost solely rely on London being the financial hub of the globe. Now you can’t clear euros it’s eroding away. It’s irreversible and it’s going to be a big negative. There’s no two ways about it.

I hear you and the reasons for leaving, but practically, it was better to have a seat at the main table, with all of your unique opt outs and have London dominate the financial markets of Europe. You will rejoin eventually, and you’ll have no sway or influence like before.

What did leaving really get you? Other than vague platitudes like “controlling your own destiny” and having retards like Boris have that control.

I’m willing to bet the average Brit likes things like maternity pay, holiday pay, annual leave allowances, 5 day weeks - basic worker rights enshrined in EU law, those things will slowly erode now. When you have to face the consequences of your financial ineptitude.

I'm a eurofag, not a Britbong. I do visit the island leper colony fairly regularly for business so I've always been skeptical of the doomsayers who've been pretending that its negative downslope isn't largely mirrored on the continent.

Anyone deluding themselves that Brexit was either gonna be some sudden apocalypse or gift from God is a fucking retard. It's the kind of decision that's only really going to bear fruit in a matter of decades, rotten or not.

Do I trust the British government to do well with their newfound "independence"? Fuck no. Does that mean that leaving the EU was a bad idea. I don't think so either, it's fucking diseased and only getting worse. Within 15 years of declaring itself a political union, it's managed to bankrupt one-third of the continent and piss off another. The Euro was a colossal fucking mistake for everyone involved, apart from some Kraut moneylenders and industrialists. It's made misstep after misstep and has only doubled down on them because there's zero accountability. It refuses to bend so it's inevitable that it'll break.

Britain might've been the first to leave but they'll definitely not be the last. There's a whole gaggle of Eastern and Southern European countries with far more valid reasons to jump ship than the Brits ever had.

No, eurofag child. Britain will be eradicated as a result. This is why it is impossible for any state in the US to secede. Because they will be eradicated. This has not set a precedent for other states in a union. I’m sorry you’re so stupid. I can’t help you.

I think there’s some confusion here.

If brexit is viewed as an ethical and moral decision by Brits to be a smaller independent country that trades economic might and growth for sovereignty, then yes they’re right and made the right choice.

It’s the people who think it’s the above but also they’ll be just as wealthy and influential or more so, and that’s not true.

For me, I’d rather trade sovereignty from British courts to EU courts but be richer, more prosperous and have a strong voice at the EU Parliament.

London is London because they’re very good at financial services, a huge attraction was foreign entities could set up in London and it would be the same as setting up in all of Europe. They can’t do that anymore, they need a London office and an EU one. That’s why investment is leaving London. This is trillions of euros being lost from the city of London long term.

If that’s a price you’re willing to take to have some ethereal sense of sovereign power, I agree with you on principle but not in practical real life.

Just my two cents. I used to work in a financial clearing house in stutgart so I know a fawkin thing or two.

See above post, British isn’t Greece or Italy, or some broke shit hole.

Britain lost London as the financial hub of Europe, a decision that will cost trillions whatever your politics are. This is a fact.

Britain will rejoin the single market soon, and have lost every power they once had.

This isn’t saying I don’t support brexit, it’s saying the truth.

I mean, I was kidding. I’m not a eurofag, nor do I really care about brexit. The only real “point” I was making was to people who act like states could never secede from the union. If faggots in Europe can do it, there’s no reason we couldn’t. Just to make a point, what you think of as practical today, won’t necessarily be practical tomorrow. The only way a change is made, is by doing something impractical. You can’t complain about the system, and then think there’s a practical way around it. I mean this in the sense that the system will just let you change it. Besides, that alleged “trillions of dollars lost”? It was going to be wasted on worthless street shitters anyways.

TLDR; Don’t complain about the system, then when something ruffles it up, act like it’s stupid and some stupid idealist shit. If everything collapses, you’re not going to get something better this way. Just the same, if not worse.
