A lot of dumb shit in both movies but I give Independence Day a slight edge for at least being a bit more light-hearted. Armageddon tried to be dramatic.

Not to mention the leap in logic. What would be more difficult? To train a bunch of astronauts to drill a hole in the ground or to teach a bunch of roughnecks how to be astronauts? Bear in mind time is of the essence as there's a fucking meteor hurtling towards earth.
