Has anyone listened to this? I’m morbidly curious and the whole thing is on YouTube. Last one I bothered with was Revival and I just threw the cd in the trash where it belonged after 2 listens.

I'll try to keep this brief :image_9247:

I've listened to it all the way through once and there are definitely good songs on there. It's not like modern day Eminem is actually terrible, it's more that everything he does now is convoluted. When he first came out, his songs were simple but clever too. It was immediately obvious what he was going for on songs like Stan. The lyrics were pretty straightforward but still got the message across and it was a great song.

Now everything he does seemingly has to be super technical. Everything's a double entendre and he does a lot of speed rapping now and is constantly changing up his flow within the same song, since I guess that's what appeals to zoomers. It all just seems pretty try hard and not particularly natural anymore. I guess that's the only place to go when you already proved yourself 20 years ago. Also he is utterly obsessed with how he's perceived in the industry and constantly talking about how he didn't make this person's top 5 best rappers or whatever.

It just seems jarring if you're old enough to remember him when he first broke through. Somebody made the Simpsons comparison earlier in this thread and it's definitely apt. Hearing Eminem talk about zoomers and cancel culture seems weird just like when they do a flashback in a modern Simpsons to Homer and Marge being teenagers and it's set in fucking 2000.

Racism is the only thing he’s fantastic for, that’s how he gets his rocks off, and he’s orange
