This is just a totally speculative guess, but based on how angry he's been lately and how he's living in retarded squalor, perhaps there's some onerous clause in his current lease, where he'd have to pay a hefty penalty fee, a fee he can't or refuses to pay. So in retaliation, he's being obnoxious and trashing the place, putting the blame on the complex for making him uphold the contract he signed.
