The only expert tip i know about guitar playing is "always buy Chinese."
Learn chords and how to transition first. Build up speed doing that, its good because you can play along to the rhythm of whatever music you like. Learning to tap takes about 2 minutes and will make you feel cool for about the same amount of time. So yeah. Do that.
