Solo guitar acts start at 3300 USD a month as per their listings, he’s most probably on this as his first time. They automatically deduct federal taxes for any US performer. He’s also allowed to have tips and sell CDs under strict guidelines.

Board and food are free, he only needs to pay for the restaurants and anything he does on shore as a tourist. He’s not allowed in the casino anyway.

He has to perform at least 5hrs a day 7 days a week according to a daily rota that will always change.

He has a solo cabin which is a good perk, but you’re still confided to a tiny cabin with a DVD player for 4 months, when you’re not performing at least 5 hours a day every day in that period, as well training / safety drills etc.

All to earn 11616 after 12% federal taxes are deducted (I doubt Joe makes more than 45k a year) minus whatever he spends on stupid shit like 154 minute Uber rides.

He will probably come out with 9000 Dollars and if he’s found a new level of work ethic in his late 70s and his health permits, he will do this twice a year. Being away from your family two thirds of the year to live in a floating prison to bring home $18000 is not good.

Visiting tons of different places but you only get a tiny amount of time to see them and then it's back on the ship where you're crammed in with a bunch of other rubes. Sounds hellish.

I wouldn’t go on one if I was offered the best suite for free all included, not hyperbole - don’t understand why you’d want to do it. It’s all the worse parts of travelling / hotels with non of the good parts.
