I dont know if they're inflated or not, but I do know that his viewership per show is undoubtedly well into the millions. For whatever reason, It's the most popular podcast in the world, and my point was that he does have influence over millions, which was contrary to OP's comment

I do know that every time I check out Rogan he's interviewing some retarded "political" pundit/philosopher, a boring as shit UFC guy or some fifth-rate comedian about "the craft". If that's the kind of shit that enthralls Americans, then it doesn't matter anymore, as we're already dead.

He goes off on tangents unrelated to discussions or veers into unorthodox perspectives, but never ones that an average human would make. He has no charm like a Craig Ferguson; no comedic timing like a David Letterman; no research and rehearsing like a Howard Stern; and no riffing capability like Opie and Anthony at their peak.

Bingo. 9/10 of his episodes don't appeal to me because it's interviews with UFC meatheads, his hack circle of comics or obvious pseudoscience/conspiracy snakeoil peddlers.

There's some interesting nuggets hidden in between all the nonsense. The one advantage Joe has is that he's had so many fucking people on at this point, there's bound to be one or two worth listening to (less and less by the day though apparantly, thanks you cowardly fucking dwarf).

I personally like the hunters and wildlife people because they tend to have some genuinely interesting stories, and the Steve-O interviews are pretty good because they're like 4 hours of the guy recounting insane drugged-out Jackass anecdotes with minimal interjecting by Rogaine.

Joe's only a 'good' interviewer by virtue of most other interviewers being completely shit in comparison. In a media landscape of chasing soundbites and gotchas and doing everything in bad faith, a guy who can communicate with others like a normal human being and allows them to speak their minds uninterrupted for a few minutes appears like the practitioner of a lost art.

It's similar to how a podcast hosted by the Fear Factor guy prattling on about shrooms and chimps has no right being considered THE multimillion audience subversive/groundbreaking talkshow in a normal world, but we haven't been living in a nornal world for quite some time.
