Is jaws a great movie?

When I got the movie on VHS it was right when DVDs came out so the VHS had a "making of" thing at the end of the credits. I remember Tim Burton really fagging out over the size of Michael Gambon's hands. Like he was really close to slipping up and talking about his dick. "His hands are so huge and thick I just wanna suck em."

I'd say it's a good movie that has some great scenes, but not a great movie.

No. The special effects are terrible. The acting is cringe worthy. The actual plastic shark is more hilarious than anything else. There are much better shark movies and much better horror movies. It's almost one of those "so bad it's good" movies. Anthony's obsession with the film speaks volumes.

I’ll grant you that most shark movies are fucking gay. That’s because very few of them can do anything that Jaws didn’t already do, sort of like demon possession movies and The Exorcist. Jaws is great though. It’s worth it for Robert Shaw alone.

Lmao. Dan's eyes kill me. Even more than the sparse eyebrows, Walt Disney mustache or overall uncanny down syndrome appearance. He has like Family Guy eyes. He doesn't have pupils or irises he just has a big black dot in the center of each eye.

The best part of the movie was Robert Shaw. It's not a bad movie, but it gets hyped up more than it should.

One awesome thing that it did was reinvent the dolly zoom as a character focus device, which really was genius. Not sure if the credit should go to Spielberg or the DP for that, though

As a kid it was always talked up as a scary film.

I finally saw it and it was just... a well made old film

my sister let my 5-6 year old nephew watch it and he loved that movie. Basically the only things that 'scared' him were the jumpscare moments like the head coming out of the hull of half sunk ship. I was a good movie but for all the reasons mentioned above for why it's a bad. The shark was such a piece of shit they had to use it as little as they could, so have to give the director and stuff credit for creativity there.
