Is it normal to never give a fuck about celebrities dying?

Gilbert dying did suck. Add that to my list.
A couple years ago I was on a kick of getting physical copies of stuff like stand up / concert DVD’s so I could have them and not have to rely on streaming services having them. I got a used copy of Gilbert’s dirty jokes DVD for 1.25 on Amazon. When it came I opened and noticed it was a signed copy! They didn’t even mention it was signed, just it was 1.25 used copy. I thought that was the most Gilbert thing possible.

Breuer said on Stern that when he hosted SNL after he left that they told him not to talk to Farley at all.
They did the exact opposite to Artie on MadTV. When he was coming back from the first meltdown into rehab they were super nice to him. One of the big producers sent him on private planes for travel even. Yet none of that mattered as Artie went right back to doing drugs and was fired again. Artie actually took the MadTV job to fund his cocaine habit which was too expensive for him to afford living in Los Angeles. Something like eight thousand people auditioned for MadTV's comic spots and somehow Artie beat all of them despite being a raging addict.

Farley called Breuer the day before he overdosed and basically begged Breuer to help him and that he was suicidal. But Breuer blew him off. Now years later Breuer tells a different version where he "tried" to help Farley yet magically didn't get in touch with him despite calling "every number" to find him. Farley was so out of control that they had nurses following him 24/7 and SNL was paying comics to follow him around as well to make sure he didn't overdose.

They also had to have Chris Rock on stand by in case Farley couldn’t do that episode. That’s why he’s there for no reason, they had a whole back up show in case Farley wasn’t able to perform. Of course now they all say they wished they had Rock do it as Farley was all kinds of a mess.

I think it was one of Norm’s Stern appearances where they mentioned Farley had a drug body guard when he filmed his parts for Dirty Work but the guy was so distracted by a movie set Farley easily had hookers and Dealers bringing him drugs to the set. I’m assuming Artie helped him get those connections since he was also using on set even after Norm and Saget told him he needs to be clean and how they stuck up for him since he was known from his MadTV problems.

Speaking of Artie, anybody remember the movie he did with David Spade? They actually had him wear a blonde wig - they tried to make him look like Farley.

People develop connections or affections for celebrities and when someone you like dies that's always sad. I've never come anyone near crying over a celebrity death but the Matthew Perry case makes perfect sense. A lot of people watch friends religiously like we listened to OandA so they likely heard Perry's voice more often than their friends'. Being sad he died, especially young, makes sense. Crying about it however is likely a sign of some underlying mental issue

I know the show is huge, especially with how it’s still big even though it went off the air 20 years ago but it’s weird how it’s like 3 days since he died and I’m still seeing news about it and people losing it. I was hoping people would bring up that he claimed he created sarcasm and was known to be a pain to work with cause of his long history of drug abuse. Funny how pretty much everyone on the show couldn’t do much outside of the show - I still don’t understand how Jennifer Aniston is this big A-List star when the majority of her movies didn’t make money and weren’t even that good. She’s had many more flops than hits.
Also she looks like a present-day Iggy Pop

I occasionally get bummed out or shocked someone dying but normally it doesn't get to me.

I fucking wept like a baby when Shane Warne died for some reason considering he was the enemy when I was a kid. Fuck knows why. I don't even cry when people I know die
