He had an editor. The original manuscript was longer than the Dead Sea Scrolls. There's a reason why Capote called Kerouac's writing "typing."

It's a good book and it was novel for It's time. It's kind of funny that the Beats kind of inspired the hippie generation and Kerouac wound up fucking hating hippies more than he hated being sober.

It's actually not entirely from On the Road like they claim but I've watched this clip over and over and it never gets old. I first heard it on an intro for a Ron and Fez 4th of July show years ago.
