We talk about how his mom did a number on him and made him the psycho we see today but it seems his dad also had a big impact but in all the wrong ways. The whole “dads passed out on the couch again with the tv on so I snuck down and watched tv late into the night” sounds like pretty serious alcoholic behavior and why he sees nothing wrong with laying around drinking on the couch every day.

Pat learned to be a leech on others from his father - he leeches off his mother and Pat say this as normal so he did as well. His only real “job” was one Ade had to get him with her and she had to drive him there because he couldn’t be trusted to wake up and drive in on his own.

Niki’s father from what it sounds like from the obituary was he was a “stay at home dad” and was the dad that would always volunteer for school events so she never saw a man provide for their family - her mom had to work so he stayed home and now Niki “works” while Pat lays around pretending to be writing a book.

Pat is one of those types that think watching Star Trek makes them much smarter than others when it’s just a sci fi show. Even George Lucas said there’s no deep meaning in his works, it’s just westerns set in space. It’s no more deep or meaningful than action films which are all western influenced.
