Coppola also cheated on his wife like crazy during Apocalypse Now. Banging the Playboy models and some of the French actresses from that weird family compound. Dude was going nuts during the filming. All of the actors are shitting all over him and the production and he's out partying with models and acting like a clown and blowing millions of dollars on extra shooting time that was really just an excuse for him to party more.Second time I've mentioned being a Dirctors Commentary Chad this week... my theory about why Coppola never reached the highest highs again based on the GF and Apocalypse commentaries: nigga got humbled. Not even just the money he lost, everybody hated his guts (probably rightfully he was so up his own ass), his peculiar genius was tied into his wop tendencies toward being a domineering cunt.
You call it Tessio (1972). Maniac.Type out "The Godfather" you fucking queers. GF, GF2. Fuck off. I was in the fucking thing and I call it The Godfather.

I was the star of the picture. You call it Tessio (1972). Maniac.
I plan on going I'll let ya knowCan someone go see this dumb movie to say how bad it actually is? Not only will it not be on streaming but its not even at theaters near me. Why make a movie literally no one can see? Like the low sales have nothing to do with movie quality - Cant buy tickets to a movie if you can’t even see it.
Beyond that the concept is actually interesting, considering everything i know from Copolla is more realistic shit like Apocalypse Now or the Godfather. I could give a shit if it’s a heavyhanded reference to Trump or whatever. A futuristic NYC ran by a guy who can stop time with his mind, the villain is Shia LaBoof and theres a 9/11 esque scene? And it’s a 90 minute movie? How the fuck could you not want to go see this just to be baffled at what you’re watching.
16, dick, Coppola but does his winery make so much money he can afford to produce complete bombs?I wonder if Coppola has dementia or something?
I have kids, I do art, I went to school for it.
Never in a million years could I imagine squandering a fortune on a movie when my demise is imminent.
It just seems like a dick move to his kids, their families, his grandchildren, etc.
Dude has made some great flicks. Put a bow on it and call it a "legacy" and spend your time doing something fun, not making movies.
He sold part of it but I bet that thing is a cash cow16, dick, Coppola but does his winery make so much money he can afford to produce complete bombs?

Edit: Scorses has put out stinkers but is still beloved because he isn't so singular in the creative process. He lives and dies with his collaborators whereas Coppola was the Auteur. Kubrick was also kinda a miserable cunt and half of his collaborators hated his guts but he never made a terrible film.

The Godfather 3 was a AbominationI sold part of my winery for $120m to finance my own movie that everyone is now saying is shit before it is even out. This is further evidence nazis are destroying everything!

After its Cannes debut, Empire reports on the biggest swings from the legendary director's long-awaited comeback.www.empireonline.com
He made a movie he's been thinking about for 40 years. He based it on the fall of the Roman empire. It's set in the future, New Rome, where people wear togas and there are chariot races.
Fucking ewwwwww...
You don't care for the place being call New Rome there, Jimmy?
I think he stinks.
Having a half gook aristocrat in 1800s England was the most absurd part.Dracula was ruined by his fucking penis looking hairdo.
Did you read Michael Herr's book on Kubrick? Fascinating guy. Loved the points about Friedkin I've read a lot about his shit, but loved his commentary tracks on French Connection and Exorcist. There are more factors I think but you're not wrong. All directors are dicks - I love Mann's movies but I remember Miami Vice Irish-Actor boy having a fat whinge about Mann being controlling, and when whatsisname (the other Miami Vice guy blew up career wise) the whole film got tanked by his shitty actor behavour (Mann couldn't get the prick to the set). Scorcese hasn't worked with Schraeder since the excellent Bringing out the Dead cause PS said MS wanted a writers credit and told him to get effed. I've heard Scorcese (since before Taxi Driver) was a master of playing politics and schmoozing (that supports your theory about Coppola just not being that kind of guy), Schraeder is also a pain to work with, then there's William Friedkin (a mental case, brilliant but a total mental case - he married the head of a studio to prolong his career in the 90s), more recently David Fincher, widely viewed as a mega-cunt within the studio system, Terry Gilliam has been viewed as being nothing but insane for the past 50 years etc.. buuuut... on Coppola:
Coppola plowed money into Zoetrope which seemed to never make cash, he supported Lucas who brushed him off when he became a made-man, he's supported countless other filmmakers (including assisting Kurosawa to make Ran), in the eighties Coppola's son was killed in a boating accident and he had the post-One from the heart economic depression for years, his daughter is a slough-faced dope widely viewed to be cunty (at least in terms of her marriages). None of this explains or excuses his shitty behavour but if you delve deep enough most directors are assholes to the core (guess you have to be to survive in the systems they work in - which are endlessley changing). Its been widely and openly discussed for decades that Jack Nicholson is a bit of a mean spirited cunt but his great expertise has always been schmoozing with Execs and treating them like celebs - that's the real reason his career stretched as long as it did and why he bowed out when he did (just couldn't be fucked dealing with Execs anymore).
You're spot on about Kubrick - he had totally loyal people like his camera assistant who loved him (who he treated well) then there's just about every writer who worked with him who hated his guts, got financially or creatively screwed etc.
Fawkin loved the easy riders raging bulls book. Friedkin seemed to me to be like a bricklayer who happened to also be a genius. Stanley Kubrick Boxes was also a good documentree.I just bought the Herr book but haven't read it yet, there's also a new, very recently released Kubrick bio but I might wait for paperback to save some bucks - depending on the reviewer it's either a 'masterpiece' or 'full of waffle'. I liked the Baxter Kubrick bio from around 25 years ago (ends before Eyes Wide Shut). Friedkin is always great value, use to own his bio Hurricane Billy years ago and agree his commentary's are good - even the bits on him in Biskind's Easy Riders Raging Bulls book are some of the most down to earth, no bullshit musings by any 70s director.
WWAWD Dangerous Liasons? I saw it as a kid on TBS or TNT, thought it was pretty good and even then I knew Keanu was a retard.Keanu Reeves fucking sucks. The only movies he was ever actually good in are the Bill and Ted ones, River's Edge and Point Break.
