The first Motley Crue record was legit good, and the second one was not without its charms. But everything after that was pap. And Bon Jovi is an obvious one. It was easy to see why people liked them when they first came along, as they were the essence of panty-moistening hair/coke rock, 80s style. But their staying power is just inexplicable. I could see them doing the club circuit like Skid Row or somebody like that, but they were still playing arenas and stadiums years after the fact.

Late 70's through early 80's Dave trainwreck era was a totally different band than the Hagar years and a lot of fun to watch. The US Fest tapes are hilarious. I'm a Dave era fan but I can't shit on Hagar for being able to perform coherently and consistently during his time.

That made me really hate them for just how large their egos are to believe every Apple user would be thrilled to have their new album which was really shitty, I don’t think they even play any songs from that album live anymore. Not even their fans liked it! I’m glad it went down as one of worst ideas / blunders in music history.

I was so pissed off about that when it happened because I barely had any free space, I really filled my dumb iPod or whatever it was at the time up to the brim with torrented music and videos. And at that time you had to sync all your files repeatedly with iTunes when you charged your device. So a bunch of my music was not synced because of those faggots taking up a bunch of my free space. I rolled over in bed opened my iPod and just cursed at them when I saw the album cover and the push notification like the little faggot device was doing me a favor by making me have this album on my shit. I'm heating up, I'm gonna go give Siri a piece of my mind.

a. I don't believe it, but I want to believe the "Carol Kaye played bass on TFFL" conspiracy theory because the mental image is hilarious.
b. The fact that they're in a lawsuit w/MM for "elder abuse" is hilarious.
c. Yeah, the first 2 are pretty much all you need, but "Wildside" isn't awful.

It's a valid criticism. Their most successful time is considered by many to be full of their overall weakest albums (though I strongly defend Duke, and like the self-titled Shapes), at least in terms of depth. I don't agree with that but it's an opinion you have a right to.

To me, their best overall albums were during the Progressive Rock period up to Wind and Wuthering, with great songs littered throughout the pop output. I find it a shame that Lamb and Selling England couldn't have been their true breakout period, but those were Peter Gabriel's tree, and that didn't really come until Phil took the stick.

Still, even then, it took three albums with him to start getting the mainstream success they desired.
