Not to do a Tomlinson-esque *points in all directions* bit here but there was a lot of stuff I didn’t care for in the middle of the series after the actress who played Livia unexpectedly died. From what I heard David Chase had to suddenly throw out major storylines he’d planned for years which were probably crucial to the arc he originally had in mind for Tony and other important characters.
I think the show recovered in the later seasons and that the whole series has aged really well but there was some shit in seasons 3-4 like the Jon Favreau stuff and the Imperioli-scripted episode that felt really shitty relative to the early episodes. I think Robert Loggia and Frank Vincent really brought new life to the show and weren’t just faggy “look at the famous actors we know” roles but great, realistic characters.
