Fuck me, the internet told me Tom Cruise had a cameo as alternate universe Tony Stark and I thought that might be fun. But no, all they had was Jim Halpert as Reed Richards and ANOTHER Patrick Stewart as Professor X appearance. Also didn't need the plucky latina teenager to be the co-lead of the movie.

I have a break for a few days after the show this evening, and Gosia wants to see it. Normally I'd be resistant, but I'm not on this one.
Raimi is the biggest reason why. I love Evil Dead 2, and even his first two Spider-Man films are pretty good. He's one of the best examples of how important visuals are to a movie, as he's always been avant garde with angles, blocking and setups. The other reason, and torch me all you want - I actually like Dr. Strange. I imported the TV movie on Blu Ray (torch me again), which I've always liked, and the first theatrical one isn't that bad. Scott Derrickson is a great horror director, and while I think he got fucked on this one and that's why he left, I won't sneeze at Raimi.
If you ever look up Steve Ditko's art on Doctor Strange in the 60's, it's trippy and legitimately beautiful to look at. I was a late discoverer of it, but it's why he's one of the few characters I can stand in that otherwise chore of a film series.
