I don't get how anyone doesn't just assume what they're hearing on the news is distorted or an outright lie. Way too many people were brought up believing that simply being the news makes it inherently trustworthy. They have zero motivation to tell the truth, and the dullards watching it are perfect marks for their inflammatory bullshit.

It takes more effort to question and analyze information being presented than to just accept it at face value. And people have been trained to not question it so they don't get ostracized with some term like "conspiracy theorist" or "kook." They want certainty, even if it's just an illusion, and they really can't fathom how there is nothing preventing these news companies from straight up lying to you.
