You can make more money and be happier if instead of going to college to be taught (badly) something at life time debt levels, if you just find the local guy who builds fences and ask them if you can spend a month just shadowing them and learning the trade and helping out, then you start building a reputation as a fence guy who turns up on time and doesn’t scam.

That’s it. It’s also a lot more valuable to society than 95% of modern service jobs.

The number one maintenance request among our tenants is "microwave stopped working". In most of the buildings, the microwaves are located under the kitchen cabinets, and there's a switch located on the wall underneath the cabinets. They accidentally flip the switch, cut the power to the microwave, and have no idea what to do. The number two request is "thermostat not working". They run on AA batteries, and there's a big flashing indicator when the batteries are low. Again, no idea what to do. We also get numerous requests to change light bulbs, as many people have never changed a light bulb, and have no idea how to do so.

electrician, plumber, mechanic - If you want the decent paying versions of these, then you need to be in a union. So, you have to go thru their training programs. You can do so with no experience, and they will teach you. Can't speak to the mechanic trade as the ones we higher are bottom of the barrel.

Nurse and EMT require schooling and/or certifications. way different than a construction job.

I'm thinking from the perspective of the person who would be employing these jobs not as someone who just wants to labor for life. There is a good reason you don't see white's in any manual labor type jobs.

I moved to the US when I was 15, and I’ve seen how retarded things can be, and it’s happening here.

Example:

In the UK they used to have grammar schools, which were 100s of years old and offered the finest education to kids in the world, they were exclusive but on merit, you took a test at 11 and if you were smart you got in, if you were dirt poor or stinking rich.

This was scrapped because it wasn’t “fair” and it offended socialist liberals, who believe every kid has the chance to be the best they can bla bla bla bla bla. Now education levels there are bordering third world levels, and the best schools are now decided by being rich enough to move into the areas they exist, so poor kids even if they’re smart have no chance.

This is great, and people like @Dennyislife will defend this to the death.

They have this same mindset with everything, it’s better for everybody to be poor and stupid than to lift the standards for everybody but have inequality.
