It's an inability to respect people's boundaries. Which comes with the territory of course, of having a "free speech" forum.

Personally, I thought the "doo doo" posts were hilarious and absurd. I think my favorite kind of humor is jokes that are bizarre and nonsensical. But they absolutely drove The Pharaoh up the wall.

Yes. You get a certain type of user. Those grow and drive away a certain other (redditors) . What youre left with is a self selected group of people who hate authority of any kind.

I bet most don't realize they even do this. This happens as an escalation over a long period.

Someone will start to get very close to breaking some rule that has a discretionary component. They will step just around the line so it's 50/50. So if there's a no pornography rule. you post that bubbled porn or some educational shit. The mods enforce some punishment.

Now you have more people on your side saying it was too harsh or just a joke. The rules get more strict. More people banned. This goes on until the rules are so strict it's an echo chamber. Or it does of attrition.

I feel like a scuuuuumbagggg yeuk. Hat with gutters. This is like some cellar table about being a jannie.

i sure hope nobody respnds to this statement attempting the strategy above.

And about 20% of the users are busting their ass to figure out the things that irritate The Pharoah, and then once they figure it out, they just GO HARD on it.

One doo-doo post a month is about right, but once people figured out it bugged him, it was just wall-to-wall doo-doo posts.

It's similar to how /r/opie_and_anthony just devolved into endless "feed_nana" posts. Like, it's funny if it's twice a week, but when 60% of the content is just "feed_nana" it sucks.
