I use MIDI to send programmed riffs from ableton / cubase through my synths. Not sure what else you use MIDI for.

I meant MIDI Keyboards, just plugin via usb and you are good to record anything you like.

Also Pro Tools > Ableton Funster.

Pro Tools is more similar to Cubase.. Ableton a different animal DAW... USB Keyboards are as good as the VST you download or if you know anything about FM synthesis. Real oscillators sound so much better than digital ones. There's much more depth if you're using a proper preamp / gating setup.

Since you are a keyboard guy CHH, I have to ask you this, Which sound you prefer?

I like me some Korg/Roland Keys, they have some great banks and presets, and they sound great.

Never got into Yamaha, casio they sound very fake and cheap.

I like Dave Smith Instruments most.. have a PolyEvolver and a Prophet 10, Moog comes second. I have a Minimoog and the Subphatty pictured above. I've got some vintage Korg as well (vintage minikorg). Nord is great too, love my virtual lead (pictured).

I use this VST, some nice 80s tones, apparently this keyboard was used in most of MJ albums.
