Same. I get it to a degree on his end, he lost the only woman he'd ever groomed into a codependent prisoner, assumed he was going to die alone, and latched onto the next pair of hips girthy enough to get a good grip on while his hands were covered in nacho cheese.

Her, on the other hand, knows the self destructive track he's on and feeds it every step off the cliff he takes. A real wife reigns her husband in when he's about to do things that will destroy multiple facets of their life. Not ol' Thiki. She's as big a loser as he is.

I think niki would be able to find a new mate in a reasonable time ( no kids) but pat would be getting stuck with dinner/bar tabs and nothing beyond that for years. Pat makes a horrible first impression. No wonder he stood in line for hours at a book signing hoping a whiff of pussy was at the end of the rainbow.

And it's an obvious lie. He was suicidal after his divorce. That's not exactly an aphrodisiac. The stink of post-divorce depression is thick as mustard gas to horny women, chicks were avoiding his needy ass like the black plague and he knows it.

Exactly, he was late 20s / early 30s coming out of the ONLY relationship he ever had. It’s obvious he married the first (and at the time only) girl that would have sex with him and he knew it would be almost impossible to get laid again so he married the first girl he could find post divorce to avoid being alone. Same thing happens to guys that get divorced after being married for 15 + years, they haven’t been single in years and panic which leads to many having a short second marriage after a long first one.

He’s a bumbling zero confidence man child in person that dresses like a dorky teenager. He never had a “college experience” were he could have learned how to get women. He married the first girl that would talk to him post divorce. Just the other day he told guys it’s creepy to introduce yourself to a woman in a public setting if you’re interested and you should just wait for the woman to make the first move which shows he’s deathly afraid of rejection and talking to women. It’s why he brings his laptop to the bar, in hopes women will come up to him but it never happens. He’s 41 and frat Pat because he never got to be that guy in his 20s. Plus he’s fat.
