The only sanitized (1st world) Asian country I've been to was Singapore. Never been to Japan or Korea, I guess Johny Somali ruined that forever.

I'm used to traveling in Europe which is just too easy. Japan seems like that. It's fun but you can kind of do it on autopilot.

I've been to India a few times, Nepal and Sri Lanka and those are just wild. Something a lot more fun about that kind of chaos.

Some will tell you that south is some paradise that defies all the Indian stereotypes but that's not true. What is true is that it's far less crowded (Bengaluru and Chennai are crowded but it doesn't feel like it compared to Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata), cleaner and more laid back. You'll still have people hawking their shop or restaurant but it's not the same kind of push you get in the north.

Rajasthan in general was very cool, Kolkata was probably my favorite city (it has its own post colonial vibe) and Kerala is probably the nicest area.

I'd like to go back and see Leh/Ladakh and the far north eastern part.
