I don't deny the wisdom of the bible any more than I would the quran or the zhuangzi. What I will deny is the existence of a god.

The evidence is all around you, it’s revealed to you every day. You might as well deny the warmth of the sun.

Have you read the Bible? It’s incredibly clear and rational. I used to think it wasn’t because I was told it wasn’t by clever people who used slick sophistry to feign intelligence.

It answers every question you might have in unambiguous, almost conversational terms.

If you are really ideologically against holy text and things, there’s also compelling measurable evidence and historical proof. One of my favorites is about the building blocks of new Jerusalem in pure light, measured with modern instruments that would have been completely unknown to any authors before.

Unga bungas worshipping the sun millions of years ago didn't care about keeping society functioning. Come on now.

It’s like when people say “religion is used to control people and it causes war”

When Christianity is about freedom and not complying with government if they infringe on your God given sovereignty to worship Him and build heaven on Earth. True Chrisrians are peacemakers. A Christian society, a real one - would be about hard work and sacrifice. There’s a reason it’s been violently suppressed since its inception and is being targeted heavily even today.

One of the central points is you answer for the good and the bad, the rights and the wrongs and you can’t say “well the government made me!” - it’s so far from “controlling people” I just laugh about it when anti religious people wheel that line out.

Did you even watch that video I sent?

You’re approaching this with a loaded deck, you don’t want to be wrong so you’re always right. There’s no courage in this way of thinking, I’m not sure why atheists think it’s courageous to be part of the cool table. It’s so brave Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris become millionaire book sellers and pundits to bravely tell people what they want to hear.

I can't fathom a lot of things and I've experienced even fewer - that doesn't mean that things unknown to me are untrue.
I mean I get the sentiment here, and it is correct. I would still stick to the position that I don't know that god exists, but I do know people make up a lot of shit. Somehow plenty of cultures have survived just believing in the ghosts of living things, or thousands of gods, and I can rationally deduce from this people just make shit up.

I'm firmly on board with the concept that all of these people have been wrong. Where the argument breaks down is that it doesn't follow from "all of these people are wrong" to "Christianity is wrong". Somebody is bound to be right. Except for the heretic @NoBacon

Did we make up gravity and the speed of light? Were they always there? Are they real? Is there something else that will push the understanding of them in a new direction?

Did we make up maths? Which of the different ways to approach maths and do equations is the right one?

Believing everything exploded from nothing for no reason takes more faith than listening to the soul of all of human history which tells us one thing on repeat.
