That first paragraph is so important. I’m not missing work anymore, upsetting my family, know when to stop, not getting sick. Are you an alcoholic or a functioning alcoholic? I think im the functioning kind, I like to drink and do it often but I’m “responsible” with it meaning I don’t get sick, I know when to stop, I never miss work, don’t get hungover, don’t drink and drive, I don’t have kids so it’s not like I’m a “drunk dad”, etc.
Is functioning alcoholic a bad thing? It sounds like it’s bad but to me it sounds like you’re just “drinking responsibly” which every beer / liquor company encourages.
Da red sauce!Sauce or gravy?
That’s what I mean, I hear people say they’re “functioning alcoholic” like it’s still a bad thing but it just sounds like you can handle it - when someone says they’re an alcoholic it always followed by thoughts of “oh this guy must be all kinds of trouble” and you imagine they have the shakes. I’m also not even someone that ever gets upset when drinking - not even in my early 20s college bar drinking days. I mostly only drink at home these days because it’s just a whole hassle to go out, Pay more, have to get an Uber there and back, etc. but some would say “you drink all that at home? You sound like you have a problem!”That first paragraph is so important. I’m not missing work anymore, upsetting my family, know when to stop, not getting sick.
I wouldn’t call you an alcoholic just a responsible social drinker.
If you can pack it away while still being responsible who cares. It’s still unhealthy tbh. Moderation is key above all else. If you’re a sauce man a drink or two after punching the clock I mean you’re entitled. I know it’s unhealthy but I at least balance it avoiding sugar / not eating sweets, rarely ever eat anything fried, drink lots of water, no soda, work out 3 times a week, diet is pretty healthy, take vitamins, etc. and only drink light beer to try and watch the calories. I feel like I do enough “good” things for myself that I can drink but I can’t do much else that isnt good.If you can pack it away while still being responsible who cares. It’s still unhealthy tbh. That’s definitely a solid balance, brothaman. Jeez, the only thing I do from that list is drink lots of water, strangely my only good addictive vice.I know it’s unhealthy but I at least balance it avoiding sugar / not eating sweets, rarely ever eat anything fried, drink lots of water, no soda, work out 3 times a week, diet is pretty healthy, take vitamins, etc. and only drink light beer to try and watch the calories.
