I still can't believe I introduced coast2coast to my dad when I was a teen, and I no longer fuck with it but my dad still listens and enjoys George Noori's medical themed guests/charlatans.

<-- always influences, never influenced.

I'd agree with all that. But as long as the guest was good I could still enjoy the noory version

Exactly, I just felt like he didn't really add much, plus I heard the show with Noory first and Bell later on. I haven't listened in years... is it ever still any good?

I remember getting high years ago and listening to an episode of either Coast or MITD about shadow people and legends and shit that was really good

I love that bitch I watch her earthfiles show every week. She's like 82 now and looks great. Her cat's names are chocolate and fluffy.
I grew up listening to coast to coast too. Probably what made me schizo.
I couldn't believe it when I found out she was in her 80's. I've got a soft spot for her too, even if she tries to pass off video game screenshots as actual alien photos.

I've been watching The Why Files on youtube, the dude does a lot of old Coast to Coast stories, he tells the most idealized version of the story and finishes by examining the truthfulness of it. The talking fish is a bit of an acquired taste.

Every Halloween I put a PA speaker in front of the house and play Ghost to Ghost from the 90s loud as fuck to the whole neighborhood from school getting out til like 1am. Every year also get into huge fight with wife over volume and she chases me around with a rolling pin.

I just loved that there was this dude out in the desert of Nevada telling ghost stories over the radio in the middle of the night. Something about being in bum fuck Pahrump, NV while flying saucers and lonely satellites flew over head and strange creatures stalked the dark desert. It really captured a sense of awe and wonder in a stoned 13 year old git faggot.

I'm fascinated by overnight radio. Ron & Fez had a bunch of eras, but when they were doing 11-3AM on WNEW, it was a constant stream of bizarre callers that had a huge influence on what the show evolved into for evenings and middays.

I've never heard Larry King's radio show, but I worked with guys who used to listen and his open call segments were apparently "psychics" and UFO experts. It makes me wonder if Jean Shepherd set the tone with his appeal to "night people" or if he moved into fertile ground with the freaks who listen to the radio at that time of night.

Radio is already a solitary experience. Now take the kind of people who gravitated to radio *and* that time slot. Unfortunately, radio is declining and conspiracy-minded shit has inundated the culture at all levels at all times of day. So instead of being a fun diversion, it's become a way of life for people who listen to a particular podcast, then scour the internet for validation.

Linda Moulton Howe sucked. That bitch would just drone on and on, and made human/cattle mutilation so boring that you'd just tune her out
