I have a sat phone, bag of clothes, bin full of canping gear including a tent, stove, propane, matches, dry food, hygienic goods, 10 gallons of water and 10 gallons of gasoline. Its all packed and ready to be thrown in the car and gone in 5 minutes.

Theres also a secret family meeting spot hours away in the middle of the mountains with a backroads route planned. Im ready to go for 2 weeks. Will probably run a fire drill soon to make sure the house is on point.

Even a full scale conventional nuclear war - no matter what was bombed - would not kill everyone.

However, the nuclear winter scenario (bombing of cities leading to firestorms and huge amounts of soot getting injected high into the stratosphere, blocking the sun) could make huge swaths of North America (and many other places) unsuitable for farming for up to 15 years. While some number of people would undoubtedly survive, the majority of the population could starve to death. The science is unsettled, but some of the scenarios proposed are quite horrible.

I put this all together after i saw the sheleves at grocery stores raided because of a tough flu season in 2020. I have no faith in my fellow man to handle any crisis properly and determined the best course of action would be to separate from the pack and live in nature until shit cools off.
