Been a bunch of times. Very fun and cheap. Make sure to head a little further south to Puerto Nuevo for the best and cheapest seafood. I’d have lobster and beers for lunch every day for like $11. And of course stop in Tijuana for the best tacos in the world.
Do you walk across or drive? Do you have a passport? I don't have one and this trip was planned with not enough time to get one. I see tons of people saying you don't really need one and it's not any more difficult to get back and forth.
People are telling you it's wise to go to a foreign country without your passport?? Sorry, I don't think that is a good idea
Pre 9/11 you could do that in Canada border towns but even that is long gone
I don't know if they are saying "should" but that there's plenty of success getting back and forth from San Diego/TJ. I figured not having one would be an easy out to not go but so many folks are saying it doesn't matter.
You can get a passport day if you're traveling within 14 days. There's an office in San Diego.
You can go across without a passport because the Mex soldiers don't care. It's getting back where it will absolutely fuck you. There's literally armies of dirty Guatemalans trying to talk their way in every day.
