The quick google I did suggests they make a new version every year; it's just they go nowhere because no one cares.
The BBC did one in 2019 - Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Andy Serkis, 7.2/10 on IMDB, shown on BBC America and FX, and on Hulu right now - and I hadn't heard of it because no one cares.
Pat'll be fine, though. I'm sure it's only the
premise that's hackneyed, not his story or prose.
