Ive never had to participate in a debtors exam, but i had a lien filed against me for unpaid medical (and legal) bills. Trust me, this shit is going to follow him for the rest of his miserable life. When i bought my house, the lien, even though it was settled and paid, came back to haunt me everytime i talked to any credit company, bank, realtor, etc. Its like a big red ketchup stain on a white T shirt. Hes fucking fucked.

He’s gonna declare bankruptcy, Niki did it once so she knows what to do.

Sorry you mooled out on an old debt but now banks just waive medical debt issues in most cases.

On a related note, when my wife had our second child we started getting multiple bills for like $600-$1,200, and a $6,000 bill. We have great insurance. I told them for 6+ months they fucked up the insurance payments. Finally the hospital group was like "We're going to send this to collections" and I said "Go ahead, I'll drag the insurance company into it again and you two will have to figure out what you fucked up". They got on another call with each other and figured out the issue after escalating it to managers and, whoopsies, I owed like $400 total out of over $10,000+. Some dumb fuck would have just started a payment plan on $10,000+ fraudulent medical debt.
